There are a number of steps you can take to ensure your child’s safety when they return to in-
person classes. Be sure to check in with your child each morning for signs of illness. If your
child has any symptoms, such as a temperature of 100.4℉ or higher, or has had contact with
someone who had or has COVID-19, they should not go to school. Work together with your
child’s school to understand their action plan for when a student gets sick.
There are other ways you can prepare at home as well. Talk to your child about safety precautions both inside and outside of the home. Even if your child will attend school in-person, it’s important to prepare for the possibility of virtual learning if school closes or if your child becomes exposed to COVID-19 and needs to stay home.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has created a checklist to help families with back-to-school planning for in-person classes. Please see the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website for additional information about what to expect at your child’s school.
