Is COVID-19 more dangerous than the flu?

COVID-19 and the flu can both cause severe illness and may lead to hospitalization. At this time, it does appear that COVID-19 is more deadly than seasonal influenza; however, it is too early to draw any conclusions from the current data. This may change as experts learn more about COVID-19.
