If your child is staying with you at home, both you and the child should wear a mask while in the same room. See the CDC website for additional preventative actions. Depending on your child’s age, the following is recommended:
- If your child is young and unable to care for themselves, contact their healthcare provider for advice on how to best protect your child from infection. If you are too sick to care for your child, you should see if there is a caregiver outside of the home that your child can stay with. The child should not stay with anyone who is at high risk of getting very sick from COVID-19.
- If your child is old enough to care for themselves, you should avoid physical contact with them until you have ended home isolation.
Be sure to monitor both your symptoms and your child’s. If your child develops symptoms, contact their healthcare provider for guidance and follow steps for caring for someone who is sick.
